A single blood-sugar reading taken after an overnight fast.

What it is for
A common first check of blood sugar. Your doctor may pair it with an HbA1c, which looks at the average over three months.
Before you come in
Preparation
Fast 8 h
- Nothing to eat or drink except water for 8 hours before the draw.
- Come in the morning so the fast ends when we open.
Water is fine. Do not chew gum or smoke before the test.
What to bring
- Photo ID
Ready when you are.
Walk in during business hours, or call ahead and we will have a time set for you.
