A note from our founder
We started this because the islands deserved better.
I’m Shanwell Gardiner. I’m a certified Medical Technologist, and I started AccuDiagnostics in 2008.
For too long, getting routine lab work in the Turks and Caicos meant shipping samples off-island. Two-week waits for results that should take hours. No accountability when something went missing in transit. No conversation between the technologist running the test and the doctor reading it. I had spent my career on a lab bench and I knew that was not the standard of care these islands should accept.
So we built something better, right here. A proper clinical lab paired with a general practice — calibrated equipment, certified technicians, in-house processing for everything we could safely run on-island. Personal care. Confidentiality. Faster turnarounds. The basics, done right.
Seventeen years in, the mission has not shifted. Bigger team. Better equipment. More services. Same standard. Every result that leaves this building still has to clear the bar we set on day one.

When it mattered most
Through the pandemic, no breaks.
In 2020, the world stopped — but the islands could not. Borders had to keep moving. Residents needed to know if they were sick. The public health system was at capacity.
AccuDiagnostics stepped in as the only private lab in the Turks and Caicos processing DNA PCR samples for COVID-19. At the peak we were running over a thousand tests per day, working through nights, weekends, and holidays to take pressure off the public system and keep residents and visitors safe.
It was the hardest stretch this lab has ever pulled. It was also the proudest one. The work mattered, the team showed up, and the islands kept moving.
